Tips For Overcoming Shyness

Shy people often make other people uncomfortable because they appear unapproachable, have difficulty making friends and often miss out on opportunities. Fortunately, overcoming shyness is not painful or frightening.

When someone uses visualization they are creating mental pictures of behaviors and situation they would like to be involved in. You need to daydream real life situations. This of a situation that is out of character for you. When you do this it helps you deal with real life situations.

Writing a journal really helps because you can tell yourself to not be shy enough times that you will want to do something about it.

Maintaining eye contact is very important in overcoming shyness. No one will take you serious if you cannot make eye contact with them. You will make a person who you cannot make eye contact with feel they are not important enough for you to talk to and you don’t want to be there in the first place.

When you are attending a party or dinner you might not want to do drugs or drink alcohol. This might make you a social butterfly for that night but it may make you enjoy it too much that you will get high or drunk for other situation which will only add to your problems.

Be yourself. Whoever you are is who you are and whether you are a great talker or you stammer it is still you. People will like you for being yourself and then it will help you by overcoming your shyness.

Getting over your shyness may seem impossible right now, but with a little effort and the desire to be more outgoing with people, then you can definitely overcome shyness. It is important to know that the fears you feel when shyness hits you are typically always much worse than the reality of the situation.

How many times did you just want to go up to someone and tell them how beautiful they were, or how they impressed you with their clothes? As a daily exercise do this: Each day of the week go up to a total stranger and say something nice. It could be something as innocent as complimenting a pretty girl on her hair or a guy with his shirt. Do not worry about the outcome, do not worry about what they say, just do it!
