How To Stop Panic Attacks

by Jon P Baker

Several million Americans suffer from panic attacks and anxiety attacks every year. That is one hell of a figure. Add on the figures of people suffering from other anxiety disorders and the figure skyrockets. This puts a huge burden on America’s medical bill. The stresses of life at the moment with the financial and employment uncertainty are taking their toll and it is not surprising that people are succumbing to these pressures.

This state of mind can easily lead to anxiety and onward to a full blown panic attack. Your heart beats like crazy, you break out into a cold sweat, you feel as if you are struggling to breathe. These are but a few of the signs of panic attacks.

You could quite easily go to bed, pull the duvet over your head and pretend that nothing is going on. Unfortunately the problems will still be there, you may well suffer from a continuous build up of anxiety and more panic attacks. The longer you leave it, the more chance there is of your condition getting worse. However, speaking from personal experience I know that if you take action to stop your panic attacks you will improve.

Calls to action are all the rage at the moment but there is great merit in the expression. If you don’t take action you won’t get better. What are your options? There are several methods to look at, all different but useful and all with the same goal in mind:- to stop your panic attacks and anxiety and get you enjoying life again. This is your goal.

Step one is to do some research. There is a ton of information out there but here a few techniques you can try. Remember, some techniques will appeal more than others.

Yoga is a great way to calm yourself down. It teaches you mental and physical discipline. Practiced regularly it will help to reduce your state of anxiety.

Hypnosis can strengthen the effect of the mind on the body, by changing the way you perceive sensations, narrowly focusing your attention so you’re not overwhelmed by the symptoms of a panic attack, and helping you to relax physically..

* Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is also an option, the theory being that if you change negative thoughts to positive ones your feelings and then outcomes will also be positive. I have found this very powerful.

The One Move Technique teaches you to feel safe in a very simple and easy to apply manner. The One Move is so called because it is in effect a movement of mental activity. It is a technique that moves mental activity away from the impulsive mid brain back to the forebrain. This is the calm, rational part of the brain and hence you calm down. I t can be done quickly and easily which is a great benefit for our hectic lifestyles.

I hope this has helped you. It is just a brief description of what can be done to stop panic attacks and anxiety. As always taking action is the key. Just that one step will make you feel more positive. Suffering from anxiety and panic attacks is nothing to be ashamed of and neither is seeking help. Just that one step will make you feel so much better.
