Box grinders, are classic contraptions used to instantly make ground coffee beans. They come in two kinds, the traditional hand grinders with propeller blades, and the burr grinders, which are not really being used nowadays. These grinders are easy to use and the grinding time depends on how finely you want the finished coffee beans to be.
Apart from giving you nice and fresh coffee beans, a manual coffee grinder is also a nice decorative piece for your home. It adds that vintage elegant feel and look to a room; plus, with the hint of the scent of coffee, a warm, cozy feeling will surely be an effect.
The only thing about hand coffee grinders is that it is quite exhausting to use. Unlike the electric grinders, you would have to do all of the dirty work and turn the handle on your own. It is worth the effort, as hand grinders tend to provide a more even grind.
Some fans of these old school coffee grinders will point out that another benefit is that when you spend more time grinding each cup you will not be downing cup after cup! You wont be taking too much caffeine with these, being that you will be required to work so hard to produce a couple of shots.
But unless you’re using it as a workout machine to buff up your arms, hand grinders are not really practical for grinding large amounts of coffee. If you would need that much, an electric grinder will be a more convenient choice.
