An important feature to how we look to the world is our hair. If you find yourself frustrated and troubled by female/male pattern baldness, you are not alone. This type of hair loss wil represent the shape of a horseshoe, and you will lose hair from the temple area and the top of your head.
It happens for different reasons, such as genetics or high levels of male hormones. This does not have to happen just because it happened to someone in your family. It can be referred to and attributed as alopecia if a father has become bald completely and the person loses their hair at an early age. This is responsible for 95% of complete baldness.
Although high levels of male hormones can cause you to lose your hair, there are some other factors to this issue as well, such as stress, improper nutrition, and environmental factors.
You do have many choices to solve your male pattern baldness. Some of the ones more commonly used are scalp flap surgery, scalp reduction surgery and hair transplant. Also for another solution you can try supplements to your diet along with a topical treatment.
When performing a hair transplant, a surgeon will take healthy hair from the scalp and replace it in the balding area. However, there does have to be enough hair to donate for this to be successful. People that deal with male pattern baldness are good candidates for this type of surgery. It can be easily performed and effective as long as there is healthy hair still growing on the scalp.
Scalp reduction surgery is good when people are bald due to flaking scalp. This type of surgery is performed by removing a portion of the balding area with surgery. Now the balding area becomes smaller and the surgeon will continue with a hair transplant and will have less of an area for the transplant.
Another surgical treatment is scalp flap surgery. This procedure is very invasive as it will remove a part of the healthy scalp and hair from the sides and back of the head. Then transplanted onto the balding areas. Men that deal with male pattern baldness will then have a new hairline. Good candidates for this type of surgery are people that have balding towards the front of the scalp. It will probably not be effective for those that have thinning or patchy areas surrounding the head.
It’s important to consult with your doctor before taking any type of hair loss treatment. There are other solutions that are available to you whether they are prescription, such as Propecia or topical methods such as Progaine (a shampoo). If your hair is thinning due to excessive male hormone levels such as testosterone, Propecia could help. It works by blocking the body’s conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone, the active form of testosterone. It has been shown that taken daily, some hair will grow back.
Before taking on such invasive methods, talk to your doctor about Propecia, it could be just want you need to restore your hair.
